As a lawyer, you need to figure out what type of witness your expert thinks he is, and whether he is right or wrong. This can be the hardest part of preparing your expert for trial and the most important. Don’t try to change your expert witness, because you can’t! Instead, use your preparation meetings to discover their real personality. Help them become who they are and figure out how to sell that to the jury.
Jurors like “real” people and do not trust salesmen or experts trying to sell themselves as something they are not.
