Deutsch Kerrigan is pleased to announce that the firm has named two new partners: Sloan L. Abernathy has been elected as an equity partner and Jose R. Ruiz has been named a partner after joining the firm as an associate in 2020.

Sloan L. Abernathy

 Sloan is a member of the firm’s Civil Litigation department and defends insurers, trucking companies and corporate clients, as well as realtors, insurance agents, physicians and other professionals in matters involving trucking & auto negligence, professional negligence, medical malpractice, premises liability, property damage and coverage disputes. Sloan received his J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law in 2012.

Jose R. Ruiz

 Jose is a partner in the Civil Litigation section of the firm’s New Orleans office. He represents a variety of clients including retail companies, restaurants, trucking companies, and insurance companies in matters related to insurance defense and premises liability. Jose received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2017.
