Partner Barbara Ormsby of the Deutsch Kerrigan New Orleans office was recently extended an invitation to visit the White House in honor of and recognition of her diversity efforts with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA). While in Washington, D.C., she was included in discussions with the White House staff on a variety of disability initiatives being proposed. She also was able to witness all of the holiday decorations while on a private tour of the White House.
Ms. Ormsby has chaired the LSBA's Diversity Committee for the last two (2) years, as well as the LSBA's Diversity Conclave Committee for the last four (4) years. Notably, she was responsible for the planning and hosting of the LSBA's annual diversity conclave, cultivating and fostering the diversity and inclusion conversation among the legal community, including lawyers and judges from across the country.
As ex-officio Chair of the LSBA's Diversity Committee, she is currently an active member promoting the Diversity Committee's numerous subcommittees and initiatives. She was also recently appointed to the ABA’s Diversity Committee for the 2016-2017 year.
Ms. Ormsby is a toxic tort and environmental lawyer with litigation experience handling asbestos, silica and many other chemical exposure cases. She defends manufacturing companies and premises owners in a variety of personal injury claims, property damage, and building abatement claims.
